They are quiet birds and croak like frogs and at times, they hiss like snakes. This quietness is associated with the fact that they lack muscle attachment to their voice box. The birds urinate on their legs to cool or bring their body temperature down. The urine evaporates to the air, the heat energy absorbed cools their legs off by lowering the temperatures.
